what do you fight about?

My husband and I rarely fight but this last Saturday night we got into one. I was asking him about some economy issues related to the economic melt down and the bail out package. Specifically I was asking about credit default swaps. Which I heard about from "This American Life" on NPR (I'm addicted to that show) which I listened to while at the lab doing work. Anyway as a regular person I couldn't understand why you were allowed to buy something that resembled insurance on a bond or company you didn't own. Apparently this was part of the problem for AIG because when Lehman Brothers went down they owed 3rd party people about 40 billion because of credit default swaps. Anyway I couldn't understand why this sort of thing wasn't regulated and why no one saw problems coming with this part of the system. I couldn't remember what credit default swaps were called so that annoyed E and he just got frustrated. Anyway I don't know why he got so annoyed (because I'm not a finance person but at least I was trying to learn about it!) but he said it was because he kept naming what I was talking about, and I said no that isn't what they called it. (So he interpreted that as me saying he didn't know) when I was just saying no, they called it something else.... [how was I to know it is also called a credit derivative? I'm not in FINANCE!] I was annoyed that he kept putting down NPR and that he was being dismissive. I mean I don't get angry at him when he asks me things about the brain. I was asking him because he is getting the MBA! He apologized the next day so we are fine now. I also think it is sort of funny that we haven't really argued in a long time and the thing we argued about wasn't really related to us or our current stressors.

This week I'm finally tackling re-writing my revise and resubmit paper. I'm trying to finish off one of my posters and I still have to start the other one.
