our time down south

So this weekend E and I went to Austin, TX to visit an old friend and her husband. They have the cutest lab mix named Tinkerbell, here tail seems super long for her size, and we had a great time.

We went for a hike in a Waterfall park, went to some natural gardens, went swimming in a river, visited the nature park where she works, visited 6th street, the largest urban bat colony and had some really good Thai and TexMex. A fun but fast get away.

At her nature park they have glass bottom boats so you can see the fish, turtles, and plants swimming right below you! The water is super clear so you can see to the very bottom spring fed areas. I really enjoyed visiting the unique ecosystem and seeing two endangered species of salamander.

When we went swimming, there were these mini damns that you can tube down. Well when it was E's turn I was trying to watch him go down the 4 or 5 feet of water but I got sucked in so I ended up sliding down head first! I swam hard and out to the side so that I didn't get sucked down the next one in line! It was a little scary, but fun too. I did hit my ankle on a rock but better that than my head.

The hiking area was neat too because of all the natural limestone everywhere. The water cuts through the rocks and you can observe it making the cracks deeper. It was hot everywhere but not unbearable. I hope we can go back sometime.
