Rejected

The paper I submitted a few weeks ago was rejected :(
I knew that was a high likelihood, we submitted to a journal based on the drug method of the work, not on the memory aspect. So they didn't really know background of our memory work and had a lot of questions about that part of the work. I think this would be alleviated if we stayed closer "to home" when we next submit. They did have a few good comments too, so I will try to address those before resubmitting. The work is very new and I know I will have more to add as I run more experiments but it is still sad to be rejected outright. I told my PI I didn't think it was enough as it was, so I guess I was right. Part of the issue is the task design, which is something I can't change. It isn't a perfect design but the animals took a really long time to learn it so I can't just change it. (Even though I wish I could). It isn't a wrong design just not ideal.

In other news: E changed his deodorant, which I didn't think would matter but his whole smell changed. I am person that notices scent (even though I'm not a perfume wearer). It sort of smells like an old man who eats citrus and rolled around in a mothball cupboard. I went to investigate, and found out it was called Greenwood. So that explains the somewhat citrus woody smell, EW. I asked E why he bought that kind? He said they were out of his regular stuff. I don't even know if he really noticed the scent when he bought it. I said next time just buy the 'regular' scent or whatever. He got two for the price of one though. How long does a stick of deodorant last anyway?

Sorry about the outright rejection. At least they got back to you quickly and didn't get you to do 2-3 draft before rejecting.

Aww. I'm sorry, B. Stinks about the paper. And I have no clue how long deodorant lasts. The way M goes through them, I'd think every few weeks ;-)
