pumpkins

E and I and a few friends carved pumpkins last night. I made a cat silhouette, someone else made a house and a moon by carving out the negative space. It was fun and I roasted the seeds. I made salty ones, and sweet and salty ones with sugar, cinnamon, cumin, cayenne pepper, ginger and salt. Yum!

I have to pick up my poster today. I have looked at three proofs, the last one last night, but it should finally be ready. I leave for the big conference this Thursday, which is always fun and a little stressful at the same time. I need to read a stack of suggested papers and make revisions to the manuscript my PI wants to resubmit elsewhere to smaller journal. I don't mind the smaller journal but I'm not really sure they will take it either. I feel it is too early, we need more (which is what the reviewers said) but my PI said we can try to publish it again, and in the meantime I can collect more and add that later if it gets rejected again. I would rather wait and just submit a better paper. But I don't pay the bill so I guess we are resubmitting.
