Happy late 4th of July!

Yesterday I only had to run half my large animals, so it was a pretty good day. I even took off 2 hours to watch the world cup game between Germany and Italy. Italy scored in the 118th minute of play so it was quite exciting. My friend has this guy as a new roomie from Germany, who had told me that Germany would be world champions. Especially since they defeated Argentina. He says everything with such authority that I was a little glad they lost yesterday. Evil as that may be...
But I really hate smugness, especially when it something that is not settled yet! Don't state a 'fact' unless all the data is on the table, please.

anyway, I would have enjoyed last night more except I had to prepare my lecture for today which happens to be over a chapter I have never taught, and over a topic I am less than an expert in. So today I ended up explaining a concept exactly backwards... fabulous. I caught it but I always feel like such a dumbass, then.... are my students going to write on my evaluation, she seems stupid? yikes oh well, in general this summer has seen much less paranoia than in past summers. Experience? or I just have so much to do it doesn't faze me anymore?

Monday night Eman and I went to a friends BBQ and enjoyed ourselves. Although, it was terribly hot it was fun to socialize and we had some of our own little fireworks. Which was fine until a guy didn't see some people and launched a firework right at them! This led to some female hysteria, which made everyone uncomfortable. No one was hurt and in the end it seemed ok. But I have never seen a 'freakout' like that before! I didn't know she was so scared, so I felt bad, I would have tried to comfort her. But it was really dark and it didn't look that close so I didn't know till after the fact.

ack I have to go finish my lecture for tommorrow, may I not stumble over my words....
