good week
It's Friday afternoon and actually sunny outside today Yay! I am so glad, it has been rainy and cool for much of May. I am headed out of the lab early today. I did not get a ton done today, but what are Fridays for? I got to talk to one of my sibs, which I haven't in a while, so it was good to hear from her. She is introducing her boyfriend to a bunch of her old friends. She was nervous as her bf and friends are so different from one another. I told her it would be ok, if he makes her happy they will all get along just fine. I guess I am lucky that I have gotten that out of the way a long time ago. It can be strange, how the person you love, all of a sudden when you have to introduce them to others, you care about, you suddenly worry about oh no, what are they going to think of his x? job, attitude, personality, looks -whatever it may be. Are they going to approve? In this case, I don't think she needs to worry, everything I have heard about this guy is fantastic. I have yet to meet him too, maybe I should work out a plan to do that.
I had a relaxing lunch w/ Eman at one of our favorite local places with the best bleu cheese dressing- yum :) I also wrote a goodbye/ thank you letter to one of my old favorite teachers from high school, who is retiring. I got so choked up, I got teary-eyed. He was just an oustanding, teacher, listener, motivator, and person. I know the school won't be the same with out him, but you can't teach forever! Especially to high school kids. He was one of those teachers who made a connection to each of his students and pushed them to improve. He taught English, but also ran the 'smart' kid program before school. That was one of the best classes I have ever taken. Sometimes I think the 'smart' kids can be quite challenging to work with. Although, they are bright they may also be over confident, or underconfindent in thier abilities and some are sort of 'out there'; but he was there for all of them, no matter how 'unusual, different, or strange' they might have been. Cheers to Mr. MC who made a difference for so many students of life!
