last night
It is our last night in this place. We have lived here for 5 years and I'm worried that we won't have room on the moving truck for all of our furniture and boxes. We took about 20 boxes to a friends garage, and tonight I stuffed E's and my car to the brim but we still have a lot sitting around. We have two desk, two beds, two large dressers, a large china like cabinet, two book shelves, and some smaller furniture. Plus the TVs, printer, filing cabinet and computers. I think we have packed all that we can (except for the computer which E will take down later tonight) and cleaned all that we can. Tomorrow I still have to do a final vacuum and wipe down the baseboards behind all the furniture. I'm going to go take a shower soon and then pack up that stuff and take down my shower curtain. Then I can relax and read for a bit and head to bed early.
Things I will miss about this place:
1) It is where E proposed to me.
2) It is the first place we lived in together alone for an extended period.
3) The park a few blocks over, where we go on our walks.
4) Having two convenient bathrooms, one for me and one for him.
Things I won't miss:
1) Having to hear our awful neighbors upstairs: named the retarded elephants by E.
2) Having to do laundry at the mat where kids run amok and scream.
3) Not having enough space and feeling crammed all the time.
I remember moving in and the first week I went to Hawaii to visit a friend. E stayed to go to work and he bought our new shower heads, new toilet seats, new shower curtains, bathroom garbage cans, rugs etc. I can't believe it has been 5 years already, it goes by so fast. It was my first year of graduate school and I'm still here, still in school! I hope the next time I move it is out of this town with degree in hand!
