end of summer
I can't believe it is the last week of no classes! Where did the summer go? It has gone much, much too fast for me. Eman and I took off Sat to return to my hometown to hang with the fam, where my sister with the 2 nephews was visiting yay :) and to meet with our wedding photographer. It is the first really official thing we have done since we booked the church and reception hall. It was sort of exciting to view all the sample books and it was one of the first times I have actually taken the time to think about how I really want all of this to look and be like.
Yesterday I met with my mentee, a first yr. grad student just entering our program. He was so excited about everything! I was amazed at his enthusiasm. I know I was happy to be coming to school, glad I got in etc. but he just seems so over the top. He was super excited about one of his first classes because it would focus on his subject of interest and that is why he came here...., he was psyched about his lab because everybody rocked and it was so cool, etc, etc.! wow, I hope he can maintain some of that energy for the long stretch of school and maybe I can borrow some of it to gear up for my year ahead.
