Happy New Year!

Another year has come and gone and I'm still blogging. I don't suppose it is all that interesting most of the time but I like the blog community and I like reading and commenting on other people's blogs. I wish I could write more about my science but it leaves me feeling exposed and I'm always afraid that it will hurt me in the future somehow. So I still write now and then. Maybe my focus will shift as I get closer to being done with my degree or maybe I'll just keep it like it is sort of a personal electronic journal but with friend commentaries.

I enjoyed my Christmas holiday. All four of my sisters came home as well as one brother in law and my two nephews. It was a packed house when all three of my grandparents came over for dinners but a lot of fun. We are a very huggy family. Last night as we were all saying good night and giving hugs goodnight my sister's boyfriend as asking if we had always been that way. Yes, we almost always hugged our parents good night growing up (well until we were in high school and stayed up later than they did). He thought that was strange but he has been dating my sister for 5 years so he is used to it by now. I guess our family may be more unique in that way but I'm very thankful I have my family. I got to stay an extra 2 days at home as E had to work Monday but agreed to meet my parents halfway to pick me up at 6 am this morning before work. He was sleepy but I think he appreciates how much I value time with all of my siblings.

We brought our Wii fit and guitar hero home so everybody took turns with those. Including my 2 1/2 year old nephew who played the penguin game on the wii fit. He was adorable! He and his 5 year old brother were the most fun to play with, and their little high pitched voices carried everywhere. The youngest loves trucks, trains, planes, and helicopters. So we played a lot of rescue missions with his helicopter, safari, and built a lot of trucks out of Legos. They are very sweet boys and pretty cuddly at times. My favorite moment was when the younger one was at the table with all of us but paused and asked, "Aunt B, do you have dogs?" It was a real question that he was curious about. I don't but I want to get one someday. :)
