revisions make me cross

Today my PI got my recent draft back to me. Most of the changes are really nit picky things. Such as hhmmm I'm not sure if everyone in the literature hyphenates this word, can you check that out and follow this lab's procedure? For the use of this species name should you capitalize this part? Other general comments include, I don't know what you are saying here, here, here etc. can you clean it up? I just don't like the way this sentence sounds- change it! (Although it is a fine sentence and isn't improper) um ok, but it isn't even an awkward sentence. Other pointers, thanks for elaborating in the intro and discussion (like she asked me to do!), but now you need to really go in and make it more concise. Why are you adding this detail? (um because you asked me too?)

I really don't like revisions. I know it isn't personal and I am really thankful I have someone to edit my stuff. But it can be difficult when they just scroll down the paper and say, I don't like this part, I don't know why, re-do it. Not very helpful really. On the other hand this is only my second draft (I'll be working on my third), and it means I'll have a second paper submitted for publication this year. (Although part of me thinks they might want more before they publish this...) How do you learn to take critiques without getting grumpy about it? (granted I don't show her this, but E will hear about it at home...)
