nerves
I'm feeling nervous because I re-contacted a person that I would like to post-doc with. They were very positive before when meeting with me but now it has been a while. I'm still aiming to graduate around Dec 2009 but everyone I know says add three months to that. So really lets say March 2010. Would they wait for me that long? Is it fair for me to ask that? bleh it just makes my stomach turn.
I have finished collecting data for the second project and am starting to write that up as a paper for my dissertation. I still have about 75% of the data to collect for the third dissertation project and that is going very, very slowly. Partly because I have to share sessions w/ another person. It may improve in a few weeks when we get better equipment and have another set-up ready to go but I can't count on that speeding me up too much.

I contacted my post-doc mentor 1.5 years before I graduated (In Feb adn I joined them the following Aug).
I was interested in writing a grant with that person so we needed the time, but even still I think engaging in conversation now to join them next year is not a problbem at all.

Everyone knows it takes longer to finish a PhD than you think it will. If your postdoc boss wants you, s/he will wait.
