more behind

Today I was mostly in a good mood despite feeling a little crazy. We can't move our animals back because the cage washer won't work without steam. So we are looking at next week sometime if all goes smoothly. The animals will need about a week to re-adjust to being home and then I'm guessing another week or two before they start to work regularly again. So I'm basically going to be behind on essential dissertation data collection for 1-2 months! I guess since in the fall I will be entering my 6th year of graduate school a couple of months isn't the end of the world, but it might really push back my graduation data, AGAIN! I've already had several set backs that were beyond my control. I don't know how much more I can take of this. So despite working for what will be 6+ years for a degree that might not guarantee me a good paying job or a secure one at that I felt pretty happy today.

I found this new song I like by Katie Herzig called Hologram. Listening to it in my car on they way home from checking the animals was fun. I got stuck in traffic (which isn't bad normally here) and I was going to take my short cut home but realized it was still closed due to flooding. I saw some confused ducks who had been swimming in the "lake" by the side of the road all week wandering around in the now dead grass areas. Other random things that happened today included 1) a girl talking to herself about her pedicure; 2) I squirted Tahini sauce on myself at my favorite falafel house today so the rest of the afternoon I was stained and smelled strongly of sesame oil and garlic; 3) I think I finally have a completed draft of this paper I've been working on for ages! E has been working from home all week because his building still has water in it on campus, so I thought he would be all happy, but his Friday/ Saturday class is ending this week and he has a big project due so he was sort of cranky. After I got home we went for our daily 2 mile walk and ate left over stuffed jumbo shells and cheese from last night. I worked on my paper and he worked on his project. Later he helped me beat this almost impossible task on my new video game. So by the end of the night he seemed much more cheery and was even looking up papers on Pubmed for me. :)
