one of those days
It is dreary here and has been cloudy w/ drizzly rain on and off. At least it isn't too cold out! I was busy at work today but I didn't get any thing real done. I filled out info to apply for more travel money, started my travel voucher for my recent conference and got caught up on other paper work stuff.
My conference talk went well and I was pleased w/ that whole day. My friend let me stay w/ her for free so I saved a ton of money and got to have a fun weekend watching football and relaxing for the first time in weeks! yay for friends and their friendly cats! :) After my talk day I just sort of crashed and it was difficult to focus for the rest of the conference. However, I did meet w/ my post-doc adviser and she is still taking me, (Yay again!) so now E feels better and he can start to look for a new job.
As soon as I got back I started sorting through units of data that I hadn't had time to prepare before the conference. I'm trying to stay organized so that I can make a list of what still needs to get done. I've made a lot of progress this year but I still have a lot to do before the spring. I really want to finish in the spring and my adviser says it is up to me but in reality if I can't have the other set up to collect data from I won't be able to finish in the time I would like. (And I can't explain more but that isn't in my control because it isn't my lab and I can't take it away from another student). I do need to stay on top of my analyses, write up a paper, and actually start to write my dissertation.
Also, there is a court case that is pending, that is dredging up old unpleasantness from years past. I'm not involved in the legal proceedings at all (thankfully) but hearing about it on the news was a shock, as the events involved impacted my life in real way for a very long time.
