Home for the holidays
Ok, so I'm home a few days to visit w/ the grandparents while they are in town. Today we played a lot of cards and some chicken- a dice game. We also saved a screetch owl. We have an old wood burning stove, which we don't use anymore but has a chimmney. We heard this racket going on and so my dad cracks open the front and w/ a flashlight sees this little critter. It's feathers actually looked sort of like cool bark and it was only about 6-8 inches high. Anyway we debated, how do we open the door enough to get the bird out w/out it flying all around our basement? Eventually, my dad put some leatehr gloves on and just sort of grabbed it while I held a blanket around the opening in case it flew. Then we put in a box w/a towel and drove it to this lady's house whom is a wildlife rehabilitator. She said he looked good and put him in a bird cage to feed him and give him some water. I guess they will release him back in our neighborhood in a few days. I'm glad my dad checked the stove, he thought it was a squirrel and was going to let it die before removing it. My sister called it our Christmas owl, and named him Jingles. He was so little and cute with little feather ear tuffs and had such bright yellow feet and eyes.
I hope he makes it!
The other day I was reading a blog that said it is hard to write, especially for no audience. But, as I have no audience there is no pressure. It really is for me. And if someone stumbles upon this to read it then great, if not that is ok too as I really am writing for me.
good night! sleep tight!
